What was the agency budget for 2006?
The final budget for FY 2006 was $332,821,563.
Did your agency receive any Federal funding in 2006?
The PBSO received $355,076 in Federal LETF funds.
Note: Funds for Social Security and Medicare for inmates is not
included in the above. Those funds are collected and turned over to the
County.
Note: The PBSO also bills for inmates being detained for immigration or
other Federal issues. Those funds are not included in the above.

There were over twelve events.
The Community Relations Division has been working since January 2006
with various Hispanic Communities in Palm Beach County and has
accomplished various milestones including:
* Hispanic population is over 150,000 people in Palm Beach County
* Partnerships with different Consuls of Central and South America
to identify individuals who are victim of crimes.
* Involvement with the Consul of Guatemala to issue passports and
ID cards from their country.
* Worked together with West Palm Beach Police Department and Lake
Worth Police Department in the month of June to issue the passports and
ID to the Guatemalan Community in which they had to provide their birth
certificates and or passports that had expired in order to get their
ID's from their country.
* At that event about 800 Guatemalan were processed for either
passport, id or both.
* This process will help Law Enforcement identify these
individuals in case of an accident, death, crime committed or victim of crime.
* There are approximately 20,000 Guatemalans in Palm Beach County.
The Community Relations Division has partnered with Pastors, Ministers
or Community Leaders of various communities to educate individuals by
visiting the churches. At these meeting we have educated them on these
issues:
* Trespassing on private property
* Walking in the streets with large amounts of money
* Urinating in public
* Sexual Relationships with minors
* Domestic Violence
* Drinking alcohol in public
* Carrying weapons
* Walking or driving in the streets intoxicated
* Educating pregnant women as to where to get medical assistance
The Community Relations Division and the Guatemalan Consul had a 2 day
visit in July at Jupiter for immigrants to obtain legal ID's and
passports from their Consulate. These are some of the additional help they
received:
* Opened bank accounts with the partnership that we accomplished with
Washington Mutual and Bank of America
* Had Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Agency to help give information
to the pregnant women and mothers.
* Children's Home Society-Runaway Society to orientate the youth and
adults
* We serviced about 950 Guatemalans for passports and/or ID's
* We provided food and drinks for the attendees.
We have also assisted in helping families that have deceased
individuals recover their bodies and have them shipped via plane or ground to
their final destination.
The Community Relations Division has joined various Chambers or
Leadership groups and participates in festivals for Columbia, Puerto Rico,
Honduras, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala and other countries.
The Community Relations Division also invited to the Putting Kids First
event children from the Maya/Guatemala Community and gave book bags and
supplies.
We have also participated in Putting Kids First and Shop with a Cop and
will continue to do so next year. We also have partnership every year
with Palm Beach Zoo, to have an event call Latino Fest At The Zoo.
