Thank you for your recent correspondence. Please be assured that the Orlando Police department
(OPD) is also committed to providing Orlando with an agency reflective of our emerging Latino
community.
As per your request, enclosed please find a breakdown of Latino officers at OPD by rank and a
Victim's Rights pamphlet in Spanish. OPD does employ Spanish speaking 9-11 operators and
our website is available
in Spanish ( http://www.cityoforlando.net/esp/index.htm).
In response to the third item in paragraph three of your letter, we work closely with the Central
Florida Chapter of the National Peace Officer Association. Our contact with that organization is
OPD officer Carlos Lorenzo.

Orlando Police dept falls short of the goal under our rating system the score a (c) They do not
provide the census information requested. We guess their are no Whites, or Blacks working in
Orlando
Police Dept. They state in the letter that the Liaison is an organization? So much for public
accountability! Lacking within the management ranking, with 70 Latino Officers this is evidence
that
they started targeting Latino only recently. With a 17.5% Latino census they need to work on some
issue for next year.... We can't wait for 2010....
