This week we want to look at the Miami Dade Corrections Dept effort in re-issuing
policy to staff. We believe that issuing these policies on disk format is more fiscal
responsible.
Also creating a log on system within the CRNET to issue policy changes and
review. Moreover a printout would be sent to the Sworn staff supervisors advising
of the employees review. Currently the Department is making
hundreds if not thousands of copies, which are being misplaced and thrown out
(Sad but true).
We want to just comment on the departments escape policy. If you have the
pleasure of reading it, you will notice that everyone is just advising everyone else
but nothing is really happening. This process is simple just have the operations
force due just that, and the formal aspect done by a unit like G.I.U.

agency. The policy is an example of that. Just as a reminder any sworn personnel
requesting assistance form any citizens in re-capturing an escape inmate is a
Florida statue and training personnel on creating a perimeter would go a long way.
Enclosing, the issue with force mandatory overtime continues our question is
under whose authority is this being done. We ask this question because we have
not seen any evidence of that person. Just a memo from the Director to the County
Manager saying he did not see how this can continue without incurring mandatory
overtime.
