We have received your request for information in line with the Public Records Law and
have provided the answers to your questions below.

We do not currently have a Latino liaison for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff attempts to attend any and all events, Latino or otherwise, that he is invited to
participate in. In 2006 Sheriff Nugent attended two Latino events specific to fundraising
for scholarships for Latinos.
We have had Spanish speaking telecommunicators in the past; at the present time we
do not have anyone within Communications that speaks Spanish; however, we do have
civilian and sworn personnel that speak Spanish.
Our website does not currently have a Spanish translation.
The annual budget for FY 2005/2006 was $27,336,402
Two civilian and three sworn Latino’s were hired in 2006.
No promotions of Latino’s occurred in 2006
No Latino’s were hired to attend the law enforcement academy in 2006
Our agency did receive Federal funding in 2006
