Ramon Suarez NYPD Sept 11, 2001 Latino Officers Association NYPD Chapter Police Officer Ramon Suarez, 45, was appointed to the Transit Police Department on January 20,1987, and worked in Transit District 4, Transit Borough Manhattan Task Force, and the Highway District before transferring back to District 4 in March 2000. He and his partner, PO Mark J. Ellis, were both killed while responding to the World Trade Center incident. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Graphic Arts and Design, PO Suarez was a few credits shy of a bachelor's degree from Pace University. A physical fitness enthusiast, he had received numerous trophies and awards for his expertise in karate. PO Suarez is survived by his wife Carmen; children Jillian, Sophia and Ramon Jr, Marina and Raul; sisters Margarita and Milagros; and brother Raul. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tony Nieves LOA City Sheriff March 14, 2007 The National Latino Officers Association, regrets to announce the passing of City Sheriff Tony Nieves. Tony was an active member in the NLOA and was a plaintiff in the Lawsuit; LOA (City Sheriffs) vs. City of New York. Our prayers go out to his wife and family.... Davis National Latino Officers Association April 3, 1962 - July 23, 2003 The NLOA is outraged and saddened by the senseless murder of friend, member and supporter of our organization, City Councilman James E. Davis that occurred in City Hall on July 23, 2003. James has been an advocate for our communities and his life was dedicated to public service. First he served as a New York City Correction Officer, then as a New York City Police Officer and finally as a City Councilman. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fr. Jorge Angel Sardinas Latino Officers Association Florida posthumous Member. Born Oct. 2, 1950, in Havana Ordained May 14, 1977 Called to Eternal Life September 14, 2004 The LOA-FLA is deeply saddened by the lost of Fr. Jorge. A loyal and distinguish advisor. His duty to the Latino community shall always remain in high esteem. Fr. Jorge came to this country as a young boy from Cuba as Pedro Pan. Fr. Jorge was an Art professor at St. Thomas University.
