Dear Mr. Martinez

Thank you for your interest in the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and our community. We are
happy to provide you with the information you requested in your recent letter.

We currently have 320 sworn officers, 55 of whom are Hispanic. Two of our sergeants are
Hispanic. Sergeant Amaury Murgado supervises our Community Services Section and serves as our
Hispanic liaison officer.

Five of our telecommunications are Hispanic. They answer both 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls. Our
telecommunicators also use the AT&T Language Bank service when translation assistance is
necessary. One of the receptionists assigned to our front desk is Hispanic.  Another ten civilian
employees are Hispanic, and most
are in positions where they have contact with the public. Our agency also has Spanish speakers,
sworn and civilian, who are not of Latino descent.

Enclosed please find a copy of our Victims’ Rights Brochure in Spanish. The brochure was
translated by one of our employees and has been in use for a number of years. I invite you to visit
our website at www.osceolasheriff.
org Translation of the website into several languages, Spanish among them, is provided by clicking
on the appropriate flag at the top of each page.

We at the Sheriff’s Office are accustomed to dealing with a diverse population and overcoming
language differences as part of our daily service in this community. Due to its proximity to famous
theme parks and tourist attractions, Osceola County annually hosts millions of visitors from all
over this country and the world. Many of these visitors feel safe and welcome enough to return
repeatedly, and even to relocate and make their homes here.

I am the sheriff for every resident and visitor of this county. Members of the Sheriff’s Office that I
lead serve and protect every resident and visitor, no matter what their ethnicity, nationality or
language may be.

Please let me know if you need anything further.

Sincerely,

Robert E. Hansell, Sheriff
